For the Guild to function effectively it is necessary to have a few rules, these have been kept to a minimum as KoS are not into ‘laying the law down’, and like to promote a high degree of freedom in how members experience the game. Therefore most of our rules are to discourage restrictive practices.
1. While a member of Knights of Sparta, you should uphold the principles and values of the guild (as exemplified in the Guild Mission Statement) to the best of your ability.
2. We are primarily a Social Guild, set up to share our knowledge and experience with others. Please be helpful to your fellow members whenever you can. Members should behave in a friendly and helpful manner towards each other. Swearing or making derogatory remarks about other members will result in removal from the guild. If you have any issues or disputes with another member then either take it up with them privately or contact a Guild Officer discretely. Once an issue or dispute has been dealt with and decreed settled by the guild and/or it's officers, do not continue to pursue the matter.
3. Begging, spamming, gold buying or selling are all prohibited. Any members found doing any of these things will be removed from the Guild.
4. Boosting is strongly discouraged. Players are free to accept boosts, but they should not use Guild chat to request higher levels to boost them nor to offer boosts to lower levels. If you are on friendly terms with a particular member of the guild who you believe will help you, then send them a private message. We prefer players to play the game in the way it was intended, and dungeons should be completed by a group of appropriately leveled players.
5. The Guild Bank is intended for qualifying members to use (primarily for the advancement of Professions), each rank within the guild has a daily allocation of withdrawals, please use them if you need to. We only ask that if you withdraw from the bank, you should also make deposits into the bank. There is no need to balance withdrawals and deposits exactly. We simple ask that members exercise their bank rights in a spirit of ‘give and take’. Please familiarise yourself with the full rules concerning the Guild Bank
6. Members are encouraged to participate in dungeon runs and events with other guild members as often as possible. There is no specific rule regarding how often this is, but we ask members to recognise that this is a social guild. If you have no interest in guild events at all, then you may want to seek an alternative guild where your needs will be better met.
7. If you have joined with a Death Knight, we require that you also have at least one other character (Level 55 or above) join the guild, exceptions can be made if you are transferring from hordeside and your DK is your only Alliance character. This is to prevent the guild becoming flooded with Death Knights.
8. Members should be reasonably active. Any member who has been inactive for 28 days or more will likely be removed, unless they are away for an extended period and have made a senior member aware of this before hand. Note that this applies to members, not characters. Hence it is possible to have a character inactive for over 28 days, as long as the member has been active on another character within the guild. To see the full definition of 'inactive' please see the following article.
9. The use of Guild tabards is encouraged though not compulsory. There is no better advertisement of what our guild is about than having other players see a group of our guild members with matching tabards waiting to go into an instance (or as a bunch of mad (almost) naked gnomes racing across the World)
10. Though we raid often, as a Social Guild we will never give raiding overall priority. The decision has been made to only schedule L85 raids at a 10 man level. Though we may run 25 man occasionally for the fun of it. We have no problem with guild raiders joining out of guild 25 man raids but we do ask that you keep your 10 man IDs free unless you know for certain you wont be joining any guild runs that week. PUG raiding 10man while our guild raids are struggling for participants may result in demotion or removal from the guild.
11. The Website Forums and Website Event Calendar are there for everyone to use and as such please feel free to post any events/runs you wish to, or want help with. Please note however, the guild raiding schedule has been worked out very carefully over many discussions and guild votes in order to allow a good balance between raiding and other events. Please don't post any other Level 85, 10 or 25 man raids. Also, should you wish to post other events on nights when raids are taking place, please do so, the raiders will generally make room and we have sufficient members to easily run 2 things at once. You can find some pointers in Calendar Etiquette here and Guidelines for Forum Posting here, please be sure to read them before posting.
12. Please bear in mind that this is a family guild, literally. We like to promote a good environment for our minors to play in too. Please try to restrain any use of expletives and any sexually orientated discussions in guild/party/raid chat to times/groups where you KNOW no minors are present. (This includes such things as "WTF???" and "FFS!!!"
13. During raids (and often other events) communication is critical. Because of this we use a Voice Chat Client called Teamspeak. While we don't necessarily expect you to talk on here (we know people tend to be shy) we DO expect you to at least be listening in for instructions. So, if you wish to join guild raids, please download the client. Login details shall be given to you directly in-game when you request them.
14. Be aware that while you have 'Knights of Sparta' floating over your head you are a representative of the guild. Please try not to behave in ways that will cause negative impressions on the guild. (Keep dancing naked on the IF Mailbox and/or being rude to other players to a minimum.)
