Guild Information

What is the Knights of Sparta guild all about?

The Knights of Sparta (KoS) is primarily a dungeon guild. The guild was founded by Juggernort as a small family group who posted on the WOW forums and got into contact with like minded players. Many of the high levels in the guild have done most of their leveling through regular dungeon runs, rather than endless questing and grinding. This is the style of play promoted by the guild.

Who is KoS for?
Players who primarily want to do dungeons and raids in a friendly and sociable environment with other, helpful, players.

Many Warcraft players get very serious about instance runs and make derogatory comments to lesser experienced players who make mistakes.

KoS was formed in recognition of the fact you can be serious about the game and still be friendly toward each other. KoS promote an environment in which lesser experienced players can learn the game, particularly dungeons and raids, in a non-threatening way, where those with more experience freely pass on their knowledge of the game.

Therefore KoS is for experienced AND inexperienced players alike, the only stipulation is that you like dungeons and be courteous and helpful towards your fellow players.

Does KOS have any Rules?
It is essential for any Guild to have some rules, but we try to have as few as possible. For a full list of our rules please see the Guild Rules page.

What facilities does KoS have?
We have a Guild Tabard, a 7 tab Guild Bank and a Guild Website. More information about the bank can be found in the Guide to the Guild Bank.

How do the Ranks work?
Basically, the ranks in the guild are Legate, Centurion, Prefect, Legionnaire, Militia, Tyro and Footman in that order. Everyone starts at Footman when they first join the guild and have no access to the Guild bank. Those wanting to gain promotion need only sign up to this website and properly format their profile, and promotion begins automatically (although it may take 24 hours to process).. Promotion to higher ranks is achieved in a variety of ways. More information can be found concerning ranks in the Guide to the Guild Ranks.

What is expected of members?
We expect our members to abide by the The Guild Rules and to play in the spirit of The Way of the Spartan.

As far as activity within the guild is concerned we generally expect all our members to:

1. Participate in guild events, dungeon runs and/or raids occasionally.
2. Maintain a presence in the guild by talking in guild chat and visiting this website regularly
3. Contribute materials to the guild bank occasionally (if they make withdrawals).
4. Play the game in the spirit in which it was intended.
5. Help less experienced members than themselves whenever possible.

As members progress through the guild ranks we expect more of this and also to:

6. Promote the guild to other, like minded players.
7. Contribute to the content of this website occasionally by posting on the forums.
8. Suggest and organise events and dungeon runs through the website calendar.

There is no exact period of time required to achieve promotion to Prefect, but it is anticipated that it may take months (rather than weeks) for you to demonstrate all of the above to the satisfaction of the Guild Master and the other Prefects.

Demotion/Expulsion
In exceptional circumstances it is possible to be demoted or even removed from the Guild. The following are things that might result in demotion or removal:

1. Pestering other guild members for ‘boosts’ in dungeons.
2. Begging for gold or items.
3. Repeatedly withdrawing from the guild bank, but never contributing to it.
4. Any unfriendly behaviour such as swearing or making derogatory remarks at or about other members.
5. Being inactive for 28 days or more. (In-game or on this website)
6. Signing up for a guild raid and then joining a comparable Pick Up Group (PUG) raid instead clashing with time or raid ID
7. Breaking the guild rules and/or not following the guild Mission Statement.
