I like the movie type trailers for Diablo - but the gameplay doesn't look too interesting. It looked like the game was mass AOE, one shotting hundreds of mobs. Not sure where the long term appeal is going to be if the game is as mindless as the gameplay trailers make it look.

If I was minded to try another MMO I'd probably be tempted by something like Star Wars.

Mass AoE murdering swarms of mobs makes for attractively flashy trailer material, though, so I don't think you can expect it to be particularly representative. Did you play D2, Jugg? From what I can gather, actual gameplay's unlikely to be too far removed from that (just with whizbangier graphics, different skill systems to optimise, and a non-broken (at least initially) game economy).

IS it an MMO? I thought you wont actually meet any other players in the main game, just in BG style set piece fights?
I'm afraid. I'm afraid, Dave. Dave, my mind is going. I can feel it. I can feel it. My mind is going. There is no question about it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I can feel it. I'm a... fraid...

It's multiplayer, but not "massively multiplayer"; you can have up to four people (down from eight in D2 ) in the same instance of the world, cooperatively taking on the mobs (whose toughness scales proportionally); either arranged groups or lobby-style matchmaking. And yes, there's PvP options too.
